Lee Small - Artful Pillows
No Online Presence
Roger began his interest and journey into photography in the
mid-70s in Kansas City, Missouri. He and Roxanne moved to NYC
in 1982 where he began a career as a professional photographer,
all the while shooting landscapes, abstracts, stills, landscapes,
wildlife and humorous photos off the clock. Traveling nation-
wide as well as worldwide has presented him with many subjects
to explore. After moving to New Mexico 20 years ago he pursues
the craft for enjoyment and the quest for that great photo
Roger says: “I'm continuing with abstracts, both manmade and
nature made. The right lighting helps with many abstractions.
Finding the right time of day and year to shoot can be key. I’m
also attracted to the balance of lighting—manmade, sun, moon
and stars.”
Judith was a Painting and Design at Carnegie Tech in the
1960's and has been creating ever since. She has worked
in many different media, and has painted on Silk since
1982. First was a long successful Wearable Arts Career,
and she is now focused on Art Quilts which she shows
locally at Wild Hearts Gallery here in Placitas, and also in
National and International shows and Museums.
Judith says: “I love the complex, multi-layered, and med-
itative quality of creating and embellishing Art Quilts.
Now, more than ever, appreciation for the beauty and
diversity of our Natural World is so important, and that is
the focus of my quilts.”
Dianna Shomaker has created and studied art since
the 1950s with instructors and institutions in the US
and Europe. Her style has evolved from realistic to
abstraction guided primarily by intuition. She is cur-
rently using encaustic wax media in a variety of
applications.
Dianna says: “Paintings can be such powerful tools
for expressing the things we value. Painting gives me
another voice in my world and is as close as I can get
to expressing those feelings whose meanings cannot
be conveyed through words alone.”
Allen’s fascination with photography started at age 11 and progressed
through college into a career in advertising and corporate marketing. He
rekindled his personal photographic art pursuits in 2010, upon meeting
his wife Cindy, and soon had his work exhibited in solo and group shows
throughout the Houston area. In May last year, Allen and Cindy, along
with partners, opened Land of Enchantment Photography Art Gallery in a
former art school in Albuquerque’s Old Town, where many examples of
his work are displayed.
Allen says: “The abstract, impressionist and expressionist art movements
have informed what and how I photograph for many years. My work
shown here mostly reflects what I’ve found engaging and representative
of the area around our Placitas Heights home since moving here in 2018.”
Lee Small has been a professional designer for over 50 years.
Her expertise spans home interiors, galleries, and art muse-
ums. Her most recent task is serving as a volunteer as visual
arts chair for Placitas Artists Series. In her spare time, her
passion for sewing has developed into an artistic pastime.
Lee says: “Sewing clothes is tradition that may go back gen-
erations in my family. What began as sewing matching
outfits for my 3 girls, evolved to creating original pillows
from remnants of discarded fabric for clients.”
